"Happy Birthday" with Marilyn Monroe

Today is Valborgsmässoafton…but I will not even try to explain that in English
Today is also the 60th birthday of our king here in Sweden…
…and I guess I couldn’t care less.
But it is also my mothers birthday and therefore the blog of today is a celebration to her!

Happy birthday, mum!
(not that she can read any English, but I will call here later and tell her in a language she understands).

"Crazy" with Gnarls Barkley

Gnarls Barkley’s (pronounced "Na:rls" by the way…and it is not a person but a group with two members) "Crazy" might be one of the best songs of this spring, so I had high hopes for the critically acclaimed album…but boy was I disappointed.
Not my cup of tea at all. Or at least not what I’d expected.
But "Crazy" is still a hit. A huge one.

"No One Takes Your Freedom" with DJ Earworm

The first train-Friday in three weeks…and the chart is back of course.
Not much has happened to my taste of music this week, but I’ve fallen in love with a so called mash-up song (when you mix together several songs to one) from DJ Earworm (and you can fetch it on his website, by the way!) - the man in the pictures.
I also made some interest in a song from the band with 29 members called "I’m from Barcelona", to the Finish contribution to Eurovision Song Contest, and to a clip from the upcoming Pet Shop Boys CD (that somehow has appeared on-line).

"Sick and Tired" with Anastacia

I’ve been cranky all day, because I have a minor cold.
It’s just enough to feel tired, but I’m not sick enough to motivate a work free day. Baaah. Boring. Fortunately I met up with MrT and he made me feel good for two hours over a cup of coffee.
But now I’m just sick and tired again.

"Lemon" with U2

People walking past my desk today might wonder what the hell I’m doing, since I’m sitting here taking zips from a plastic lemon…
Yesterday I went to the doctor, and he told me I had some kind of throat infection (here we go again…remember last October?) that also has infected my tongue, and turned it into some sort of fungus disaster. The cure (for the tongue) was to lower the pH-value in my moth, and he recommended things lemon candy.
Well, I hate lemon candy. Much. So when my sister gave me the tip to drink pure lemon juice (and I had a little plastic lemon in my fridge, due to my green-pea-pesto I make all the time, and in which lemon juice is an ingredient) I jumped on the suggestion. But it clearly looks silly.

"Weird" with Butterfingers

There is one little stupid English word, which I never, ever can remind myself of how to spell it… It’s "weird".

No, not that it’s weird that I can’t spell an English word…it the word "weird" I never can spell.
Well, I know I have miss-spelled several other words many times in this blog…and that my English may have worse flaws than this little word – but it is just so deeply annoying.
So next time you see a wired or a weired or a weird in this blog…

…please be nice!

"Live Forever" with Oasis

One of the questions today is if this blog shall be put to its death when I’ve written in it for a year – or if it will continue to live forever.
The Swedish blog takes all my blog-time, we all know I’m definitely a better writer in Swedish than in English, and it’s getting hard to find anything relevant to write everyday and at the same time connect it to a song in a way that isn’t strained…
…at the same time I love the concept with this blog, and the challenge in both the writing and the "find a fitting tune".
I really don’t know. But I won’t decide until the one year anniversary the 7th of June.

I also have to say that I since the first of January this year have had some sort of loophole that I haven’t used at all, actually. It is an iPod calendar (which I kindly received from two colleagues with knowledge of this blog, after our company-trip to N.Y.C last October), which also presents one new song everyday – a song you (of course) also might buy at iTunes if you want to. And today, for the first time, that song coincidence with my song of the day!
This is how my calendar presents the song:

Noel Gallagher wrote his band’s first major hit after listening to The Rolling Stones’ album "Exile on Main Street" – the melody of the first line of "Live Forever" corresponds very closely to the beginning of the chorus of "Shining a Light" (Gallegher is the first to point it out"). A British journalist Jon Savage has noted, Oasis’s early records stand out for their good-heartedness; this moving tribute to endurance was written for Gallagher’s mother. It entered the U.K. pop charts at No. 10 and made Oasis the biggest English rock band of its day.

Fabulous present that calender. I have to use it more often. If I carry on with this blog, that is.

"We're So Loud" with Dub Sweden

The word "Spring Break" got a whole new meaning today, when spring took a break.
OK, when I woke up and where supposed to take a power walk, THEN it was quite nice weather outside – but when I missed my train by about 20 seconds (and had to wait for a new one in 25 minutes since they thought canceling some trains where a good idea today…again) the grey clouds started coming and it turned cold.
I hope it changes until this weekend when F&H turn up!

…and apropos of nothing; since I bought a radio this weekend – streaming P3 at my computer suddenly works…
I guess that’s irony for you.

But at least now I can listen to Lantz&Carina right now, while trying to get used to working again…and I will make the next song coming up the song of the day, just as a celebration to my radio come back...

*10 minutes later*

...my god...do they play music in this show?? Bla, bla, bla...and they're really not that funny anymore, are they? Now!! Oh, and it's a good one. Not that it has anything to do with my reality since I'm quiet as a mouse with my headphones...but anyway. Here you go!

"No Regrets" with Robbie Williams

I've thought of this for a while, but today I have to write about the chairwoman of SSU, and her statement of having no regrets at all about being too drunk, knocking down a couple of guards, and call them racist names…
OK, she doesn’t admit to have done all that…but she was undoubtedly very, very drunk and caught by the police…and if you’re going to lead a political organization – and in extension have people voting for you – I guess it wouldn’t be that unfitting with some polite humbleness… Because it can’t be that easy that she know that some dark groups of the voters actually will change their vote and vote for her if they know she’s one of them – getting drunk and insulting immigrants?

The political world is a very strange place, and I will have a hard time finding a political party to vote for in September. Not that I don’t have opinions in different matters and not that I don’t find it important (because I do – and I think it is a duty to have voted if you’re going to complain afterwards), but there are so many bad, corrupted people in every party…and it’s always the small, extreme parties that gets the power due to the block-politic we’re practicing here in Sweden.

*sigh*

Happy Easter, everyone!

As an Easter egg for all my fabulous blog-readers, I give you the song of the day HERE! It might be one of the most hysterical tunes I’ve ever heard.

So, have an egg, some hearing and a schnapps – and dance the night away to the Egyptian Shumba!

Shimmy Shimmy Shimmy Shy-Yi Meece-E-Deece
Last night I dreamed I was on the Nile
Dancing with you Egyptian style
Way down in Egypt land
And the mummies took our hand
Eeee-Eeee-Aaaa-Aaaa-
Egyptian Shumba!

I'm gonna make that dream come real
I'm gonna dance the way I feel
Way down in Egypt land
And the mummies took our hand
Eeee-Eeee-Aaaa-Aaaa-
Egyptian Shumba!

I heard the drum beats in my sleep OH!
And my heart started to beat OH!
I heard the drum beats in my sleep OH!

I wanna dance! OH! I wanna dance! OH!
I wanna dance! OH! I wanna dance! OH!

"Positive" with The Mo

I always get that I’m too negative, so today I list some positive things:

* My favorite child makes me happy just looking at her in the pictures I took this weekend. Cutest in the world (see pic)!
* The sun is finally shining (though it’s still cold).
* I was back at the gym this morning (I’ve gained some weight during my absence due to the London trip/the cold, but not "terrifying much") and my throat still seems okay…or at least not worse.
* I loooove my new jacket. I feel like a good looking Michael Jackson (oh, I know the contradictions in that sentence, but you have to see it I guess).
* The walk through the little wood to my work is a whole lot more pleasant when the pavement is dry and without snow, and you have no big suitcase to carry. (My intention was to ad "and when you’re having a "Cappuccino to go" in your hand", but an advice from me to you: stay away as far as you can from Pressbyrån’s Cappuccino!!)
* My computer has finally arrived to my Stockholm apartment due to some invaluable help from Rondo, Metica-Sara, and Sis. Now the only thing remaining is a night connecting all the cables again…
* Just two days until Johan arrives!

…and finally: If one laugh longer your life…how much longer does four simultaneous laughs make your life?
=)

"Kal E. Anka Suger Pung" with Onkel Kånkel

Snippets of my day so far:

• The "internet-on-X2000 obsession" of mine seems to slowly drift away in proportion to how slow it functions when the whole train turn on their laptops at the same time.
• The man in the seat behind me on the train poured out his coffee into his lap, on his seat and all over his computer… Talk about a bad start of the week.
• The lamb-thingie I was supposed to eat (at the Lebanese Restaurant at Kista Galleria Food Court) at lunch just went out when I turned up with my tray. It had to be chicken instead. I guess I’m the only person who has actually boosted my bird-eating since the bird flue crossed our borders.
• The episode of "C.S.I" I watched on the train where really, really good. I sometimes forget why this is the most watched TV-show in the states, but now I understand it again…
• …the latest episode of "The New Adventures of Old Christine" stank however. Have they really lost it already? After just five episodes? Please give me a new episode of "How I Met Your Mother" soon, so my faith in sitcoms returns.
• How will I ever find a song that matches anything I’ve just written?
• I’m responsible for three documents this far at work…two of them had troubles in them when they where delivered today. Bad luck, incompetence or just no plain interest?
• I have to find a way to transport my computer from one part of Stockholm to another… - but I guess I’ll do that after I’d figured out the easiest way to get me and my luggage home so I may throw myself on my sofa as fast as possible after this day is over…
• The cutest story today has to be this one about the gay ducklings! I guess they had read about the German gay penguins and thought they would like to give it a try…and now I know what song to choose. =)

"Bröllopsklockor" with Pugh Rogefeldt

Today I was summoned to a café in town to have some sort of coffee-gathering with my best friends…it turned out to be an announcement that two of my best friends secretly had got married yesterday!
Congratulations!!
Well…they WHERE engaged so it wasn’t THAT big of a surprise…but nobody (except for their families) knew it was happening this weekend.
I guess they also robbed us of one hell of a party (for most of my friends it was the second wedding in a row they missed…it is clearly a down going trend of big weddings) but I will haunt them until I get one.
I know I have a great wedding speech somewhere inside just waiting to get out for these two…
But even so - for know I just wish them all luck in the world, and I hope the will have a great honeymoon in Venezuela this (and next) week.
Hugs.

"Juggernaut" with BWO

Friday.
Trainday.
And finally – Chartday!

It’s been a while, and it shows on the chart since all songs are new.
Well, Carola is still there with her Melodifestival winner…but this is the English version so in some ways it’s not a song from an old chart either.
BWO dominates with three songs from their new album (read my review in Swedish terrifying video if you’re afraid of flying (like me).
I found the song with The Attic on the net…and I’m not sure if it really is The Attic…but it’s good and I have no other suggestions…
Andreas Johnson has made some very good dance remixes of his Melodifestivalen-song. Very good initiative, Andreas! Everybody should follow his example…and I promise I’ll give them chance on my chart!
Marie Sernholt’s new album has got very, very bad reviews, but I don’t think it’s THAT bad. Just a bit…well…naïve or something. The chart song is sort of "ABBA of 2006", and who can resist that from a former ABBA-teen?
I told you about the Axel Boys Quartet yesterday…and Sanna…well, sometimes you need something butterish just to feel sorry for yourself!

"Barbie Girl" with The Axel Boys Quartet

When I came home to my flat yesterday I found an envelope on my doormat. It’s not that unusual, but the envelopes showing up on my doormat since I moved to Stockholm is normally not for me but for the girl I rent the flat from… But this time it was for me!
…and it was also a very funny surprise (almost…since I got a phone call the night before asking for my new address…)!

It was the strange, blue CD with covers J bought at Urban Outfitters in London, called "Paris Derniere Vol 1", with cocktail classics like the Arabic version of "Shaft", a carnivalish version of "There Must Be an Angel", some funky Beatle’s covers in latino-style, Leningrad Cowboy’s version of "Happy Together", a completely weird version of "Can’t Take My Eyes Off You" complete with a children’s choir, a deep, base version of "Joe le Taxi", and – my favorite - The Axel Boys Quartet’s version of Aqua’s "Barbie Girl".

Now I guess I’m also prepared to play soft cocktail music at a Friday’s pub at "Haket" as Cattis always ask me…

"I Want Candy" with Bow Wow Wow

I’ve just received three GIGANTIC Easter eggs from my company (to deliver to our clients) and all I can think about is to open one of them and throw loads of chocolate down my throat…
Either I have to go to lunch right away now, or I guess my intention to stop going to the gym (to let my cold finally heal out and go away) but loose weight anyway by eating healthier will go out the window…

*Lunch*

Well, it didn’t make a difference… The lunch is over. My food was excellent (I made my special chicken with green pea pesto and white beans) but I still have cravings for the little red and blue eggs (and chocolate bears…and so on) lying in that mothership of all Easter-eggs right beside me.

"Invincible" with Carola

The "missing days" from London will soon appear below in this blog.
...but for now I give you the English version of Swedens ESC-song this year:
Carola with Invincible.

Well…what can I say?
It is not a complete disaster as Lena’s "It Hurts" turned out to be – but that was to be expected since this version with English lyrics is the original version of the song - but it is clearly not that "super-hit" Carola talked about all the time during "Melodifestivalen".

It’s still a covered gospel in march-speed, with a Carola who screams out so loud in certain notes that her voice crack… Nothing more, nothing less.
Sweden – 12 points! La Suede – 12 point!

A Carola song for the second day in a row... I really have to comb myself.

"Home & Dry" with Pet Shop Boys

So…
I’m back at home again (or at least in Gothenburg – the definition of "home" for me seems to be a bit floating this year) and enormously tired and totally dried up after many, many kilometers of town-walking and ale-drinking.
It has been a fantastic trip! Really amazing.
The weather (mostly sunny, about 15 degrees), the shopping, the pints of London Pride (my favorite beer), the coffees at Starbucks…just being there and smell the smells and feel the pulse is unbelievable.
…and the best of all this time was of course the company!
J.A.C.K – me and my three little homies.
It was really nice just to hang out with them, talk to them about everyday stuff and just learn to know them all over again as the persons they are nowadays in their new life-situations with children and houses.
It was also my first trip to London without visiting Camden…something I previously thought might be impossible…and except for a very short trip to an almost closed British Museum the only cultural event was buying a book and watching the street artists at Covent Garden through the windows of a nearby pub.
But I managed to keep my shopping-tempo down (not the sum of spent money, though) and I almost reached my goal of drinking five beers in pubs I’d never been in before, and five in pubs I’d previously visited (the J.A.C.K boys where thirsty, but not nearly as thirsty as F1 & F2), so everything where just peachy.

I don’t even try to pretend I wrote the blogs for Friday and Saturday on these days, but instead you get a short summarize of the trip in the two previous blogs below.
Enjoy.
